We’re K and Elizabeth, the duo behind Gumpert Homestead in Alexander City, Alabama. Our journey started in early 2024 after many whirlwind years of traveling the country in an RV with our twin boys. That adventure sparked something big—a dream to build a homestead rooted in education, community, and connection. We’re passionate about making learning accessible—especially for homeschool families like ours. At Gumperthomestead.com, we share free educational resources, curriculum ideas, and glimpses into the everyday rhythm of farm life.
Locally, we love welcoming families to the homestead for hands-on experiences that bring learning to life. Over time, we’ve found that learning alongside our community is what truly builds community. Whether we’re showing teens how to retrieve a goat blood sample, helping a family build their first quail hutch, or guiding new poultry owners through local ordinances, every moment becomes an opportunity to connect, teach, and grow—together.Life on the FarmOur days are full—sometimes chaotic, always joyful. We hatch around 2,000 chicks a month, and care for a lively mix of animals including: chickens, quail, turkeys, juliana pigs, angora rabbits, goats, 2 quirky donkeys, and our two incredible protection dogs: Judge (Lab Pyrenees) and Goose (Dogo Argentino). We homeschool, we homestead, we snuggle pigs—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
FarmKeep has been a total game-changer for our operation. It’s helped us:
As busy homeschooling moms and small business owners, having one place to keep everything organized has made a huge difference. FarmKeep lets us focus on what we love most: raising animals, teaching families, and creating a homestead that feels like home to everyone who visits (and stays!). Thanks for creating something that truly supports farms like ours. We’re proud to be part of the FarmKeep community and excited to keep growing—feathers, fur, and all.

While chickens and quail are the backbone of the farm, Gumpert Homestead has diversified into unique offerings, including:
They even share free educational resources online, such as a farm-themed coloring book for kids, making learning about agriculture fun and accessible .
At its core, Gumpert Homestead is about family. Owners raise their twins on the farm, using daily animal care and homestead projects as hands-on lessons in responsibility, sustainability, and resilience. It’s a vision of farming not just as a business but as a way of life — one rooted in family, community, and connection to the land. The Gumpert family also stays connected with their community online, offering updates, educational posts, and even free resources like a farm-themed coloring book for kids.
Gumpert Homestead reflects exactly what FarmKeep is about: families building sustainable farms, sharing knowledge, and managing operations with heart and organization.
